Welcome to the blog of Steve Bowman Photography. Musings & articles of dubious interest. Fingers crossed I remember to update.
Shoot: Katie & Brian. Engaged.
Wednesday, May 09, 2012 5:49PM
No pressure for this one. You know, just doing engagement pictures for my boss and his wonderful fiancee, who has also been one of my most supportive fans... after a rollercoaster of weather watching, (and after waiting for Brian to get himself dolled up) we headed to Lapham Peak and turned awkward to awesome over a damp but fun hour... also starring at the end is their very cute and very smart dog Nala who enjoys chasing sticks larger than she is herself...No matter how many engagement shoots you have where everything is familiar, well-oiled and pretty much locked down, there's always something different that is in some way a challenge. It's part of what makes this job interesting. In this ...
Shoot: Shannon & Brad. Engaged.
Wednesday, May 09, 2012 5:49PM
Almost another casualty of storms tearing through the area, we scheduled this last minute shoot before Shannon & Brad headed back up to La Crosse.. though we didn't make it all the way through to the end before another down pour arrived, it ended up being rather serendipitous... not just because of the stunning pictures we got, but also because it washed off the mud I inflicted upon them by making them wade through the fenlands and lay in the dirt... heck, I'm just pleased the rain shots ended up being what I promised after everything I put them through to get them... "hey, why don't you guys sit in the middle of the road?"...Technically, this was a challenging shoot from a lot of ...
Shoot: Kate & Jesse. Engaged.
Wednesday, May 09, 2012 1:06PM
Underneath threatening skies, met up with Kate & Jesse at one of my favourite spots, and after the prerequisite warnings about awkwardness, they found their inner-GQ, straddling benches, wading through soggy fenlands and laying on a gravel track, they definitely suffered for their awesomeness... and if this turns out to be a segway wedding, I'm totally taking the credit for that... it's the price I demand for ruining a pair of socks.Kate & Jesse. Engaged. from Steve Bowman on Vimeo. I was really happy with this shoot for some reason. Technically, and even aesthetically it wasn't much different from others I've done recently however, so I'm not sure why. One change I made was ...
Shoot: Tanya & Steve. Married.
Monday, May 07, 2012 3:12PM
With a fortuitously timed Friday wedding in weather terms, it was great to see these guys again, as well as Steve's impeccable 'Blue Steel' pose, which you'll see at various moments throughout the day. Conspicuously well attended for a Friday gig, it was definitely a party worth bunking off of work and school for as the enormous guest list took over the zoo's Peck center (and it's struggling bar) for the shin dig, live band and all...Tanya & Steve. Shoot: Anna & Mike. Engaged.
Thursday, April 26, 2012 11:10PM
Part deux of 'Colorado Weekend' was with Anna & Mike, WI natives now living in Denver (and until Wisco can match CO's sunshine quota it will remain so)... with highlights including being covered in sand flies, we threw in some ants for good measure, a gale force wind and finished off with ski goggles.. totally normal. Looking forward to the deep winter Milwaukee wedding in December... Anna & Mike. Engaged. from Steve Bowman on Vimeo. So at a client meeting last week, someone said something that resonated with me. The girl said that she didn't look good when pictures were taken of her when she wasn't smiling. The guy immediately chirped in that she shouldn't worry about it, ...
Shoot: Amy & Paul. Married
Thursday, April 26, 2012 11:05PM
The oldest church in Madison played host to it's newest married couple yesterday, as Amy & Paul ied the knot in front of family and friends from across the country. Once again blessed with great weather, a plethora of awesome locations with an awesome wedding army, and a final surprise for Paul in the fluffy shape of Bucky, it was a great day... Amy & Paul. Married. from Steve Bowman on Vimeo. Anyone notice anything different about the ceremony pictures for this wedding? No? Phew...So, just as Amy had joined Paul and the ceremony begins, my camera has a shutterfart. Not the little kind that causes giggles and smells like cabbage, but the big kind where you really start to worry ...
Shoot: Taylor & Matt. Married.
Friday, April 20, 2012 5:36PM
Let me tell a story to describe how beautiful Taylor & Matt (and their bridal army) are... when we went to the capitol, another bridal party wanted to take pictures with them. In true entourage style, we turned them down. So, as summer appeared early just for them, friends and family from all over the knot came in to observe the nuptials, starting in the midst of the UW campus, then to Monona Terrace for a legendary reception, highlights included a huge muskie (Matt's other love) and a guest appearance by the UW band... yeah, it was a pretty awesome day...
