On their first weekend off in recent memory Janelle & Chris chose to spend the afternoon launching their modelling careers, and if teaching becomes too pedestrian for them, I'd say they have more than a shot... their first date (orchestrated somewhat sneakily by a mutual friend of ours) happened at one of the first weddings I shot which was a cute coincidence to be on the hook for this wedding... starting off in the Third Ward with mercifully mild weather, it was then on to the lake front to make out in front of a bunch of kids in the MAM doing arts & crafts.. very appropriate for a couple of educators... see kids, even when covered in glue, construction paper and glitter you can still find love in front of your innocent eyes... Magically avoiding horrible weather, a brisk late autumn day proved to be just right for Nebraska natives Steph & Mike on their triumphant return to Milwaukee and the Marcus, the spot they became engaged.. not before a trip to Menomonee Falls for formalities of course and a bus trip that transformed them from one of the most reserved wedding parties into the rowdy raunchy bunch that crushed what was probably the biggest party in M-town last night... as Mike so wisely remarked in relation to the evening's big surprise, "It's not a party til the wieners come out"... (he was, of course, talking about the Brewer's own famous racing sausages storming the dancefloor..probably only outdone on the dancefloor by Steph who is probably still dancing as I write this... what a dynamo)... Rounding off the weekend with the lovely Rosie and Scott out in Pewaukee with another mercifully mild day's weather... perfect for plenty of climbing, sitting (and at times for me at least comfortable laying) and wading through nature.. after a little poop on the hand, a talk about how fostering kittens help you weed out the evil ones, a quick wardrobe change it was off up the hill to make sure got the industrial estate in a few shots, then down onto the frontage road with just enough cars passing by to ensure Rosie was completely freezing before wrapping up... A long-awaited trip out to Eagle for the gorgeous Lauren & Steve's engagement session...a new spot for me proved to be the perfect place for these guys (along with bodyguard Ben who sneaks in to one of the shots)...after crashing a couple of other photographers and climbing around the place, it was across the road for their beloved pooch's cameo and off into the autumn-sun drenched fields for some of my favourites of the season...and no, it wasn't done there... into the trucks to try and keep up with Lauren's driving to get to her one and only request of this whole wedding-photography deal.. some campfire shots...so after some sublime shoreline sunset pictures, Steve pulled out the gasoline and a solid ten minutes later we had ourselves a towering, raging inferno to roast stale marshmallows on.. perfect. The last stop on their Wisconsin Weekend tour saw Chicago-natives Morgan and Coley bring their brilliance to Milwaukee's Fifth Ward, starting off on Florida, we (or I) destroyed some of the carefully cultivated flora to kick off, before giving up on the slowest moving train in the world before finding an alley to hang out in, finding one of the most profound piece of graffito ever known to man or beast... minds blown and truly inspired, it was off to the Harley Davidson museum down the road for a quick tour of the grounds... lots of standing around in grass and up against walls before a quick nap on the grass...yep. Make Stuff. Words to live by Morgan & Coley. Engaged. from Steve Bowman on Vimeo.

The gorgeous Alexa & Darren summoned perhaps the last glorious gasp of autumn for their Milwaukee wedding, and it was no less fitting that Alexa's name comprises most of the letters in the word 'relax' as I've rarely seen a more laid back bride...however when things are bound to go this well, why worry? After completing the formalities, it was off lakeside for the first stop amongst leaf-tornados, photo-bombing another wedding before heading off to the Commerce street bridge, hang out with some weirdos down there and finally into Trocadero for some drinks, then off to the reception...some epic speeches, tears, plenty of laughs and plenty of drinks for one fo the fastest filling dancefloors we've seen... The second part of Sunday's double-header was a hook-up with the delightful Brittany & Justin at a blustery Bradford beach...starting on the agility-testing narrow beach risking equipment and sock-dryness the nervous laughter was a great start as they found their epic-legs with some fortuitously set up tableaus under the heavy sky, a splash of lake autumn sun in the pricky grass before heading off to t'other end, some rocks and finally to Veterans Park, a short delay for the slowest moving geese in the world and a bed of leaves to wrap things up...
