Round two for the day took us to the balmy Bradford beach...always beautiful in December...if you squint...which you probably do thanks to the cutting wind...but aside from that and the crashing waves it's gorgeous... not as gorgeous as Sarah & Matt however, who laughed their way through the entire shoot, blew a few kisses, only snotted on each other a couple of times and didnt whine as I dragged them across the beachfront before retiring up to Lake Park where lions were not mounted and a brigadier general's horse was not used to crack open a couple of bottles...because nothing says class like drinking beer in the park on a Sunday morning...Sarah & Matt. Some people's dream wedding location is somewhere tropical.. Cancun? Somewhere majestic.... Colorado's Rocky peaks?.. For Jess, it was the Lakefront Brewery. Sadly they no longer host weddings, so as a small consolation, she arm-barred them into letting us do Jess & Nate's engagement session there, and talked our way downstairs because nothing says romance like those kettles and vats... shining in the Sunday morning sun like beacons of love and happiness... after the session I do believe they were off to another brewery.. they may still be there as I type this.. who knows.. seems there's only one thing they love more than beer and that's each other.. On their first weekend off in recent memory Janelle & Chris chose to spend the afternoon launching their modelling careers, and if teaching becomes too pedestrian for them, I'd say they have more than a shot... their first date (orchestrated somewhat sneakily by a mutual friend of ours) happened at one of the first weddings I shot which was a cute coincidence to be on the hook for this wedding... starting off in the Third Ward with mercifully mild weather, it was then on to the lake front to make out in front of a bunch of kids in the MAM doing arts & crafts.. very appropriate for a couple of educators... see kids, even when covered in glue, construction paper and glitter you can still find love in front of your innocent eyes... The last stop on their Wisconsin Weekend tour saw Chicago-natives Morgan and Coley bring their brilliance to Milwaukee's Fifth Ward, starting off on Florida, we (or I) destroyed some of the carefully cultivated flora to kick off, before giving up on the slowest moving train in the world before finding an alley to hang out in, finding one of the most profound piece of graffito ever known to man or beast... minds blown and truly inspired, it was off to the Harley Davidson museum down the road for a quick tour of the grounds... lots of standing around in grass and up against walls before a quick nap on the grass...yep. Make Stuff. Words to live by Morgan & Coley. Engaged. from Steve Bowman on Vimeo.

The second part of Sunday's double-header was a hook-up with the delightful Brittany & Justin at a blustery Bradford beach...starting on the agility-testing narrow beach risking equipment and sock-dryness the nervous laughter was a great start as they found their epic-legs with some fortuitously set up tableaus under the heavy sky, a splash of lake autumn sun in the pricky grass before heading off to t'other end, some rocks and finally to Veterans Park, a short delay for the slowest moving geese in the world and a bed of leaves to wrap things up... Before starting up on this one, Rachel and Nate stopped for shots... not that any dutch courage was needed for this lovely pair out of Kenosha... although come their wedding next August I might need a little, as their wedding party promises to match or exceed my much-storied experience from her sister's wedding a couple of years back...man, that's a lot of Kenosha right there... but if anyone deserves an army of a bridal party it's these guys who made quick work of the MIAD loop, and after a quick change headed to a back alley to finish up... just need to make sure Nate watches where he's going on the wedding da so he doesn't wreck Geneva with head butts... Under a leaden sky and stiff lakefront breeze, the adorable Steph and Pete put their modelling skills to the test...barely a year after we last ran into them at a friends wedding, they proved not to be too rusty at all and pretty much nailed it.. not being put off by the rock-climbing, periodically having an audience including a fox or complex direction of what to do with feet.. happily its only a few short weeks before you'll be seeing them again, when 50 degrees will look positively tropical against their winter wedding.... Off down the road to the second shoot of the evening to one of my favourite spots for the gorgeous Lory and Kegan where the conversation began with the bloating habits of vegetables and with Kegan's make up (the two were unrelated) then navigated around the beautiful National warehouse...climbed on a few loading docks, around semi-trailers, miniature and wire fences and avoided another shoot-in-progress before coming face-to-face with a questionable pack of Fifth Ward dogs including a really feisty little Maltese who wasn't the slightest bit impressed with what was going on... The first of a Fifth Ward double header kicked off with Ashley & Ross by the remainder of Tom Selek's head on a wall with the opening conversations covering everything from Blades of Glory to Moobs before wandering around the back of the warehouse through a wind tunnel to a spot that no longer exists.. not to be deterred, we found a loading dock and photo-bombed a rap video for 10 minutes, waited for a train that only teased before finishing off in a great alley way with a door 20ft off the ground... thank fully not long to wait to see these guys again...
