Off down the road to the second shoot of the evening to one of my favourite spots for the gorgeous Lory and Kegan where the conversation began with the bloating habits of vegetables and with Kegan's make up (the two were unrelated) then navigated around the beautiful National warehouse...climbed on a few loading docks, around semi-trailers, miniature and wire fences and avoided another shoot-in-progress before coming face-to-face with a questionable pack of Fifth Ward dogs including a really feisty little Maltese who wasn't the slightest bit impressed with what was going on... The first of a Fifth Ward double header kicked off with Ashley & Ross by the remainder of Tom Selek's head on a wall with the opening conversations covering everything from Blades of Glory to Moobs before wandering around the back of the warehouse through a wind tunnel to a spot that no longer exists.. not to be deterred, we found a loading dock and photo-bombed a rap video for 10 minutes, waited for a train that only teased before finishing off in a great alley way with a door 20ft off the ground... thank fully not long to wait to see these guys again... After an afternoon of miscommunication, it was finally decided to just go for it with Melissa & Eric despite the radar forecast... I mean it might not rain right? As it turns out, we were wrong, so just as we were shaking hands and catching up the typhoon rolled in... hauling gear and bags into the parking structure we hid on and off, rearranged posters in elevators, utilized numerous props including their pup Carson, some champagne and also a single round balloon (who made a very lacklustre attempt at escape) and just as we were wrapping up, the rain decided it'd had enough and stopped... so just to spite it we kept going another half hour... all in all a great improvised session.. can't wait to see these guys again in September... Part deux of the afternoon up in Milwaukee for Abby and one of the Navy's finest, Dean who brought the style and took the cue to keep their hands on each other very seriously...I guess when your short trip home from Cali on leave is filled with wedding planning you make the most of it... a quick loop around MIAD and then off to find an alley way to glam up...a whole year and a half before you see these guys again...can't wait... After Irene & Tony were snowed out a couple of weeks ago, we reconvened this afternoon for a second run at it at my favourite borderline-dangerous derelict warehouse. For added fun, the whole place was coated in thick sheets of ice, so we tottered around like a small gang of GQ octogenarians.. surprisingly no one biffed it, and their composure was impeccable, as were their innate skills on their modelling debut.. one can only hope that the weather will be more balmy for their wedding in a few short months and they can really stretch their legs..

Shivering under the early November lake front sun, the much rescheduled engagement session for Ellie & Travis finally happened... that it was worth waiting for...bit of an understatement, right? Ths slideshow could have been 3 days long... In addition to curbside modelling crash-courses, the family shoot from a couple of years ago really paid off as we navigated O'Donnell Park and across the lawn of the Art Museum with such halcyon memories as the delightful fragrance of the stairwells, huge surges of inconvenient traffic, grabby bushes and the slowest moving Southwest flight ever...Ellie & Travis. So we trailed around the Commerce Street bridge with Meredith and Rob and Meredith's shoes for Engagement Pictures part deux, starting off around the back of a towing company, (because nothing says love like profane graffiti), stood against a few walls, kissed a whole lot, laughed a whole lot more in a small patch of grass then finally onto the bridge proper only to be serenaded from down below by an anonymous Lothario, dodged a few dogs and biking guys with rolled up pants, found the highlight of the night, Tom Selleck doing his best Something About Mary, then past Homer Simpson, up the conspicuous stairs with the questionable audience, and finally up on to the hill which overlooking the city with what may have been a body a few yards away. Yep. That was quite a run-on sentence, but then again, it was quite a night with quite a couple...Meredith & Rob. Engaged. from Steve Bowman on Vimeo.
