The second part of Sunday's double-header was a hook-up with the delightful Brittany & Justin at a blustery Bradford beach...starting on the agility-testing narrow beach risking equipment and sock-dryness the nervous laughter was a great start as they found their epic-legs with some fortuitously set up tableaus under the heavy sky, a splash of lake autumn sun in the pricky grass before heading off to t'other end, some rocks and finally to Veterans Park, a short delay for the slowest moving geese in the world and a bed of leaves to wrap things up... Before starting up on this one, Rachel and Nate stopped for shots... not that any dutch courage was needed for this lovely pair out of Kenosha... although come their wedding next August I might need a little, as their wedding party promises to match or exceed my much-storied experience from her sister's wedding a couple of years back...man, that's a lot of Kenosha right there... but if anyone deserves an army of a bridal party it's these guys who made quick work of the MIAD loop, and after a quick change headed to a back alley to finish up... just need to make sure Nate watches where he's going on the wedding da so he doesn't wreck Geneva with head butts... Just down the road for the gorgeous Michelle & Marc's session at Nagawaukee park where Michelle called upon those teenage memories of working there spending 10 hours at a time coloring in small huts to lead us around... after a hot tip from some septuagenarian dog walkers, we skirted the trail to the beach, discussed how well jellyfish sting treatments relate to other professions, climbed a small wall then changed outfits before circling back to the park head to hear about belt loop gold, netflix marathons and Marc's confession to wanting to wear dungarees and no shirt for the shoot. It could have been a very different afternoon, clearly... Michelle & Marc. Engaged. from Steve Bowman on Vimeo.

After another weekend up north for Mindy & Mitch, it was back into the woods for their much-negotiated engagement session at Lapham Peak in Delafield... thankfully Mindy's threats of knock-knock jokes weren't required to loosen up Mitch as it was seemingly impossible to stop them laughing the whole time at anything and everything... as the clouds rolled in, the crowds departed and we got a run up the observation tower for a workout, then it was off down to the pond (no homeless guys for Mindy to recreate her senior pictures with sadly) before the rain came on... cant wait to see these guys again at their barn wedding next May.. It's a tough life having to spend the day hanging out some of my favourite people.... every last one of them beautiful and having to take their pictures... all weddings are fun... some are funner... this kind is the funnest. Meeting up with Lauren at the venue of the day before the first trip around the Third Ward with the girls, then Matt and his guys for the second.. a quick break to get them hitched before going around a third time with the whole bunch before settling down for dinner, some speeches (not least another Mr. P epic) before everything descended into bedlam on one of the fastest-filling dancefloors I've ever seen... it was everything Lauren & Matt deserved and more... just wish there was another Perry sister for round 3... Under a leaden sky and stiff lakefront breeze, the adorable Steph and Pete put their modelling skills to the test...barely a year after we last ran into them at a friends wedding, they proved not to be too rusty at all and pretty much nailed it.. not being put off by the rock-climbing, periodically having an audience including a fox or complex direction of what to do with feet.. happily its only a few short weeks before you'll be seeing them again, when 50 degrees will look positively tropical against their winter wedding.... Sleepy little Kiel, WI was the place to be for Andrea & Travis on Saturday.. such an awesome-magnet, even November decided to show up with rain and a biting wind totally at odds with the brilliance of such a gorgeous couple and their brilliant friends and family... the waterworks weren't just on the outside however, as tears flowed aplenty.. after a quick weather break and relocation to the impeccable Whispering Springs, the weather broke long enough to get out for some soggy GQ (no one biffed it on the wet hills and no hair-dos were ruined.. but a serious shout-out to Travis... brown corduroy and tweed sport coats? amazing.) before heading back in to the party complete with plenty of drinks, a rousing sing-a-long speech, some big head cut-outs and a lot of kick-ass dancing...so.. same time next week guys?..
